How It Started

1985

CEO Masami Sakaguchi established SEIHA English Academy. It is a private Eikawa English conversation school run by SEIHA Network Co, Ltd. It started primarily in western Japan aiming to teach children from 3 months old to 14 years old. Native English-speaking teachers co-teach in tandem with native Japanese teachers. SEIHA’s curriculum specializes in using Total Physical Response as its core teaching model.

UPTALK Seiha

December 2015

Seiha English Network Philippines Incorporated, also known as UPTALK Seiha, was founded in 2015. It offers online classes for students in Japan. Our teachers obtain high English credentials and are confidently fluent in teaching English lessons online. SEIHA teachers work hand-in-hand and are supervised and supported proactively by our Filipino and Japanese managers. Seiha Method of teaching, developed by Seiha English Academy, is strictly applied in the Philippine branch. Uptalk Seiha is currently situated in FLB Corporate Center, Archbishop Reyes, Cebu City, Philippines

Largest children's English school

For its first offshore satellite, Seiha English Academy reached towards the Philippines. The Philippines is globally recognized not just as one of Asia’s top English-speaking countries but as one of the largest English-speaking nations in the world. English has always been one of the country’s official languages and is spoken by more than 14 million Filipinos. Filipinos, being non-native English speakers, but having successfully mastered the intricacies of English on top of being capable of speaking at least 2 dialects (one’s regional dialect and Tagalog) are strategically effective communicators and teachers of English as a Second Language (ESL).

Seiha has schools all over Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa. It has 900 locations all around Japan and approximately 2,500 teachers, overall. The number of students strengthened its status of being the largest children’s English school in Japan.

March 2019

With the influx of foreign tourists wanting to learn English while enjoying the beautiful beaches of Cebu, Seiha English Academy saw an opportunity to expand a second branch and offer an offline teaching model. Seiha Global Academy Incorporated was officially opened. By the end of March, it offered its first classes, catering to Japanese adults and children for face-to-face lessons and excursions in Cebu.

True to its company values - Expansion and Advancement, SEIHA sets its gaze on extending its reach to other countries in the future.
